Fugro operates in accordance with a Health, Safety and Environmental Management System (HSEMS).  The HSEMS is used in every aspect of Fugro’s conduct of business and allows confidence that the best possible procedures are in place for the Health and Safety of all those directly and indirectly involved with any project conducted by Fugro.

All offices of Fugro employ full-time safety professionals to develop and oversee the implementation of Fugro’s HSEMS.  These safety managers do not have operational duties, focus solely on HSE and report directly to the Managing Director.

Fugro is a founding member of the International Airborne Geophysics Safety Association (IAGSA).  IAGSA works to improve safety standards throughout the Airborne Geophysics industry and Fugro is active in its support by providing representation on both the IAGSA Board of Directors and its Technical Committee.

Airborne geophysical surveying is inherently more hazardous than a number of other scientific occupations.  As such, a large amount of diligence, planning and risk management is required to ensure that the health and safety of all persons involved and the environment we work in are protected.  Fugro’s HSEMS has been accredited to the international standard for Safety Management Systems; OHSAS 18001-2007.

Fugro undertakes the preparation of a comprehensive Job Safety Plan (JSP) for each and every project involving processes of hazard identification and risk assessment.  The JSP will be reviewed and approved by all survey crew members and by Fugro management prior to survey commencement.
