Conductive Unit Parameters: Summarising Complex Conductivity Distributions
Richard Lane, Fugro Airborne Surveys, Australia.
Abstract
Electromagnetic data are commonly inverted or transformed to multi-layer or smooth layer models. The information contained within these models can be difficult to summarise, particularly for airborne surveys covering a large area. By defining a number of simple conductive "unit" parameters, it is possible to robustly characterise the conductivity depth variation. Example parameters are the depth to top, base, layer thickness, conductance, average conductivity, and the elevations to the top and base. Some flexibility in the characterisation make these parameters useful in an integrated interpretation, particularly when the parameters are presented in plan and perspective view alongside other datasets.
