Fugro Airborne Surveys offers a helicopter-borne stinger-mounted single magnetic sensor system. This technology provides many advantages over conventional helicopter-borne towed-bird magnetic systems. The installation of the magnetometer in a stinger attached to the airframe permits superior terrain clearance consistency and lower achieved flying heights, while eliminating any ambiguity of the position of the magnetometer sensor in a towed-bird. Similar to fixed-wing magnetic systems, automated compensation results in low noise levels and high sensitivities.

The equipment is compatible with and fully approved for use on Eurocopter AS350, Bell 206 and SA315 Lama helicopters.
