Fiberglass/Kevlar bird containing a cesium vapour magnetometer sensor towed 27 metres below the helicopter. Radar altimeter.  GPS receiver with real time differential and post processed differential available.  Fugro-designed HeliDAS acquisition system. Quick installation and de-installation, lightweight compact system that can be easily shipped anywhere in the world.  Installation approvals for a variety of helicopters and ease of installation allows for use of existing project aircraft.  High resolution magnetic acquisition with recorded sample rates of 10Hz.

Applications

The helicopter-borne towed bird system is used anywhere that high resolution spatially dense magnetic data are required and where terrain or logistics would reduce the effectiveness of fixed wing magnetometry. The low sensor ground clearance of 30 metres and a combination of aircraft speed and sampling rates provide ideal anomaly definition for mining exploration and engineering applications. Helicopter magnetometer surveys are appropriate for precious metal, base metal and diamond exploration.
